👻 Ghosted: 3 Email Templates To Use When Event Planners Go Dark
It happens to all of us...here's how you fight back 👊🏾
A good morning to all of you badass speakers out there! 🙋🏾♂️
Let’s get straight to it…
👻 3 Email Templates To Use When Event Planners Go Dark
Who can identify with this scenario….?
☑️ Someone reaches out to you for a potential speaking gig
☑️ They ask for video, pricing, etc.
☑️ You respond quickly 🤓
☑️ They respond to your response with something like: Thank you so much! I will be in touch shortly.
If this has never happened to you, then keep speaking and I can promise you that it will…
I was just ghosted by an event planner. Here’s the skinny:
☑️ We had two phone calls.
☑️ I created a proposal.
☑️ Everything seemed like we were close to signing a contract, AND THEN....
Let me be honest, when I first started speaking, I would crawl into a cave and lament…
And now?
Well, it never feels good, BUT it gets easier.
Here are 3 responses (copy/paste this to a GMAIL draft and save for later). 👇🏾
Scenario 1: At Least 10 Business Days of No Response
THE COPY:
Hope you're doing well, [NAME].
As we’re nearing the date for the [EVENT NAME}, I'm checking in to see if you would need any more information from me as you make your final decision.
Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day!
Remember: Sound breezy but diligent.
Scenario 2: No Response AND The Event Date is < 30 Business Days Away
THE COPY:
Hope you're doing well, [NAME]. I just wanted to ensure you've moved forward with another speaker for your event before I released the dates on my calendar.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
Remember: Again, you want to give the impression that you are just covering your bases and you have options. Don't seem bitter.
Scenario 3: No Response AND The Event Date is TODAY (now this is a little secret of mine)
THE COPY:
Just wishing you success on today's event! I hope you get some rest once the confetti settles. Thanks again for thinking of me!
Remember: Inwardly the recipient will be thinking, "Wow, she actually cares. Maybe we should have hired HER."
There have been at least five times when a planner has circled back the following year to hire me for the same event and referenced this email.
In short, getting ghosted is no fun, It doesn't matter if you're getting ignored by your significant other/side boo or an event planner you've never met.
The next time it happens, use the emails above (be sure to add your own flair 🕺🏿) and stay the course!
