What’s up, MYM Familia?!?!
First things, first: Who’s winning?
Kendrick or Drake? 🤔
🤷🏾♂️
Just kidding…I could care less. 😂
Neither one of them are sending any royalties to my Bank of America account 😂, soooooo let’s stay focused on ways we can re-up in the speaking game and that brings me to….👇🏾
PLATFORM 2024
Last year, 31 of you joined us for our inaugural session. 👏🏾
Many of our alumni have gone on to land more speaking gigs at higher price tags in front of larger audiences.
Well, we’re doing it again!
Block off October 4-6 on your calendar.
Dallas, Texas.
Trust me: You don’t want to miss it.
Look out for a registration link this month. 👊🏾
Minor Tweaks —> Major Gains
Last week, I delivered my first talk of the month to a gathering of financial advisors.
I spent two days listening to the other speakers and talking with the team who planned the event.
Before I jump into the tweaks, here’s an important nugget:
🚨 Event Planners are Looking for Combo Deals: Keynote + Workshop 🚨
I’ve written about the almighty bundle before (see here).
For last weeks’s engagement, I delivered a keynote and then 30 minutes later, I led a smaller workshop for 20 attendees.
Typically, event planners will contract different people for the keynote and workshop, but in order to save cash (hotel, airfare, etc.), they are looking for ways to get a 2-for-1 deal.
If you’re not pitching a workshop (even if you’ve never led one) with your keynotes, then you’re missing out on more money and opportunities to add value.
Stories > Stats
I hate to break this to you, but someone needs to tell you: No one gives a damn about your stats.
Are stats important? Sure? Will people remember them?
Probably not and you know why? Because most of them have kids or dogs and all of them pay taxes. Their life is already complicated.
But you know what they will remember?
Your stories.
Give them the highs and lows from your life, and they’ll remember your keynote long after you’ve left the stage.
Make It Easy for Your People to Connect With You
When you nail your talk, at least ten percent of the people in the room will want to stay connected to you.
Make it easy for them!
And…
Don’t give them too many options.
Send them to the place (with a QR code) where you are the most likely to respond quickly.
Go Fast…Then Slow…
One of the worst things you can do is let your audience get comfortable.
When they get comfortable, this is what happens…
They check their email.
They jump on the Gram.
They check their Bonvoy account.
So, keep their attention by going fast and slow.
Keep them off balance and engaged.
The Mic Drop 🎤
That’s all for this week.
Don’t forget to block off October 4-6 to join us in Dallas for PLATFORM.
