This Document Will 2X Your Speaking Business
First…Greetings from Hershey, Pennsylvania!
I’m here for a keynote. You gotta love it when the hotel is a place called “Hershey Lodge” and this is your welcome basket. 😲
Second, we had a great time on Instagram Live last week.
Thanks to those of you who showed up. There were 74 of you lovely people floating in and out of the space with great questions.
Here’s a link to the Live session replay.
One of the questions that came up in our convo involved the speaker one-pager.
This document is CRITICAL if you’re serious about building a career.
Let’s dive in. 🏊🏼♀️
The Speaker One-Pager
A speaker one-pager goes by a lot of aliases.
You may hear people call it a “speaker sheet” or “speaker profile”.
It’s a concise document that provides an overview of you and and your expertise.
More importantly, it’s a quick reference for event organizers, conference planners, or anyone looking to hire you.
[💎 Note: Assume that your one-pager will get passed around an organization because it will.]
The main purpose of a speaker one-pager is to highlight your qualifications, topics of expertise, previous speaking engagements, and contact information.
Here are the MYM must-haves when it comes to building your one-pager.
Speaker's Name and Title: The speaker's full name, professional title, and any relevant credentials or qualifications.
Bio: A brief biography of the speaker, highlighting your professional background, achievements, and areas of expertise. It may also include information about your education, relevant work experience, and notable accomplishments.
Topics: A list or description of your topics. Should include a short summary of each topic and the target audience it is suitable for.
Speaking Experience: A list of previous speaking engagements, conferences, or events where you’ve presented. This is the “credibility section”. If you’re just starting, don’t worry about not having a lot of logos. Just keep speaking.
Testimonials: Quotes or testimonials from previous event organizers, participants, or clients who have worked with the speaker before. These endorsements are liquid gold.
Contact Information: Your contact details, including email address, phone number, website, and social media handles. [We’ve seen a lot of speaker’s omit RELIABLE contact info on their one-pager. Be warned.]
Headshot: This image should reflect your professionalism. No standing by a wall at a kid’s birthday party. Invest in getting professional shots. This is your brand.
