Bezos Does It Again: 3 Reasons 2025 Will Be a Blowout Year for the Speaking Industry
Greetings MYMers!
It’s the first day of October and we’re gearing up to host PLATFORM in Austin this weekend, so this newsletter will be straight and to the point. 🤜 🤛
Let’s dive into why our co-founder and author of the upcoming book (Microwins: Go Small, Build Momentum, and Tackle the Goals that Actually Matter in Life), Daron K. Roberts is extremely bullish on the speaking industry heading into 2025.
I’m telling you right now, 2025 is going to be a high watermark in the speaking industry, and here’s why…
1. CEOs Summon Employees Back Into the Office
Two weeks ago, I opened my Wall Street Journal to find this:
You see that story at the top? ☝️
Well, the big domino hath fallen.
With Amazon being a major mover to spell the end of hybrid, it’s only a matter of time before the Fortune 500 will fall in line.
Why?
Despite research to the contrary, executives think in-person work is necessary (and they love to control humans), so…there you go. 🤷♀️
This development is great for the speaking business, because it means there will be more in-person events.
While we may not reach pre-pandemic programming levels, I predict 2025 will be get pretty damn close.
2. Lower Interest Rates = More Liquidity = More Speaking Fees 😎
Thanks to Chairman Powell & Co., we finally received some interest rate relief.
When interest rates go down, the costs of borrowing capital decrease, which creates more discretionary income.
Those funds can go to a lot of places, but I believe execs will allot some (and more than previous years) to keeping employees happy (who are still pissed off about coming back to the office 😂).
So…expect to see the number of corporate events increase.
3. The Election 🗳
Simply put, a large chunk of the population will be pissed off disgruntled once the election is settled.
If you have any “let’s all get along” keynotes in your library, dust them off and get ready to go. I anticipate HR teams clamoring for speakers who can bring their people together (or at the very least, make them feel better about their lot).
