3 Types of Video Content That Will Get You Booked ASAP
Video.
Video.
Video.
No other piece of social media content will get you booked faster than video, but does that mean you must have a fully recorded speech before you should post?
Here are 3 types of video content that will put you on the radar of event planners.
1) Podcast Interviews
As of March of this year, there were 5 million podcasts worldwide with 70 million episodes online.1 😮
So, there is a pretty damn good chance that someone in your circle has a podcast.
If you’ve already appeared on a podcast (and video was recorded), then:
download (or screen record) the video
chop it into small (15-60 seconds) clips
caption them
If you haven’t been on a podcast, DM one of your people and say: Hey, I’d love to be on your podcast. 🤷🏾♂️
I guarantee that if you send at least 5 DM’s to people that you know, you’ll land on at least one podcast. Podcasters always need guests.
Now, let’s get back to the video.
I can hear your excuses:
Your Excuse: But, I’m not tech savvy! I don’t know how to edit and download videos.
Our Solution: Pull up the video on your phone and record the screen. 🤷🏾♂️
Don’t turn this into trigonometry.
Download (or screen record it), chop it up (use this app ➡️ InShot) and off you go!
Preferably, the clips will have you sharing an insight or giving perspective on a topic that fits into your speaking topic.
Heck, you may just be saying something funny or sharing a story from your past.
Regardless, share it on your social media platforms and respond to every comment that comes your way.
Oh, and one more thing…include a sentence at the end of your caption like: (To learn how I can add value to your team as a keynote speaker, send a DM).
2) Candid Recordings
Check out my Instagram page and you’ll see a ton of videos with me talking directly into the camera.
No one else is there, just me and a camera.
What’s great about this setup is that you control the narrative.
You can talk about whatever the hell you want, when you want, and you don’t have to wait for any gatekeepers (event planners).
People do business with people they know, like and trust.
The more you post this type of content, the more people will feel like they know, like, and trust you. And when that happens, opportunities emerge.
3) Speech Content
Now, let’s say you have some past speeches recorded.
Let me ask you a question: Have you posted it on the internets?
I know a lot of speakers who are sitting on a load of good content, but they just won’t share it with the world.
🙈
I hate to put my football coach 🧢 on, but I just have to do it: Post the damn video already!
If you’re afraid that your content is too low quality or your speech is not that good, get over it.
Spend some time scrolling around on Instagram and you’re going to see a lot of subpar content.
So, the question is: Do you want to get gigs or not? If the answer is yes, then apply the methods from #1 ☝️ and get to posting!
💎 Oh, one last thing…
You don’t need to break the bank to record good video.
Buy this incredible phone mic setup for $30 on Amazon, get a friend to sit in the front row, and record away.
🎙 5 QUESTIONS
Today’s featured keynoter is Jasmine Bland Hawthorne. Jasmine is a PLATFORM alumna.
1️⃣ How long have you been speaking?
I have been professionally speaking for the last two years. I started in October of 2022.
2️⃣ Are you a full-time or part-time speaker?
I hold a full-time corporate executive role and currently speak part-time.
3️⃣ What topics do you cover?
The topics I cover in my speaking engagements really are at the crossroads of leadership and wellness. I really enjoy connecting with my audience on leadership, wellness and mental health, and that's woven throughout all of my keynotes.
So I talk about how to lead yourself well in the corporate space, how to lead your teams well, and how to lead your firms or organizations well.
And the wellness piece is really important from a mental and physical standpoint.
Since I am a former athlete, I always talk about what you need to do to sustain your leadership level.
4️⃣ What’s your average investment level for a keynote?
The average investment level that I have calculated has been just under $5,000, and I hope to continue to grow that from here.
5️⃣ What single tweak has created the biggest gains for your speaking business?
The single tweak that has created the biggest gains for my speaking business, believe it or not, is me infusing more of my own stories and my own experiences into my keynotes.
And so what I mean by that is mentally dropping out of my head and dropping into my heart so I can better serve my audience. [Editor’s Note: Re-read that last sentence. 💎]
Every time I've done that, I see eyes light up, I see people being transformed, and they tell me that as well.
Getting in the reps, practicing, and making sure that things flow right are important.
But for me, it was really infusing more of myself into the keynote that really made leaps and bounds for my speaking business.
